The Deadknight is a skeleton in suit of heavy armor with a flaming sword. They are tough and dangerous.
Gameplay[]
Owing to the use of their shields, Deadknights are impervious to direct attacks, whether to upper or lower body. Only when they move their shield aside are they vulnerable. This includes a large window after they attack, and a much shorter one right before they do. You can also duck their attack, which allows you to follow up more quickly than you would by advancing and retreating around the windows of opportunity that you will have.
Another tactic involves how the Deadknight moves. As they move back and forth, they will approach you, but not collide. This will allow you to stand your ground as the Deadknight moves very close and then backs away. Continue swinging your mace and as they raise their shield to attack, this allows one (or sometimes two!) attacks to strike their undefended heart before you have to back away to avoid their strike. If you are in the middle of your attack animation when they raise their shield, it will instantly strike, as your mace is already extended, allowing for a quick second attack before retreating or ducking under their flaming sword attack. Be wary, though, as their attacks deal a considerable amount of damage!
Deadknights are excellent enemies to farm sure to the high amount of experience (250xp) and large gold drops (15 or 30gp). This is an excellent way to level up early in the first dungeon (Valeshire Keep), but exciting and re-entering the key room that is up and furthest to the left.
